Kilimanjaro. The name itself is a mystery wreathed in clouds. It might mean Mountain of Light, Mountain of Greatness or Mountain of Caravans. Or it might not. The local people, the Wachagga, don't even have a name for the whole massif, only Kipoo (now known as Kibo) for the familiar snowy peak that stands imperious, overseer of the continent, the summit of Africa. Kilimanjaro, by any name, is a metaphor for the compelling beauty of East Africa. When you see it, you understand why. Not only is this the highest peak on the African continent; it is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, rising in breathtaking isolation from the surrounding coastal scrubland – elevation around 900 metres – to an imperious 5,895 metres (19,336 feet).

1.LAKE CHALLA MACHAME MOSHI
Is about an hour & half drive from Protea Aish Machame Hotel to the lake. The special characteristic of this lake is that it is a Crater Lake and fishing is allowed during hot seasonal. The views of the surrounding area and the shores of the Lake provide a magnificent picnic site. On the way to the Lake you will observe the mighty Baobab trees trailing the road to the Lake as well as blue monkey down to the lake. A sight to see!!......

2.KUKULETWA HOT SPRINGS MACHAME MOSHI
This is a natural clean water spring. The drive to this marvelous site takes about 45 minutes from Protea Aish Machame Hotel. Here swimming in the warm water makes one have a great time and a day of enjoyment and relaxation. The surrounding area provides a stunning view with a good picnic spot and a tour into one of the Masaai huts will make your visit worthwhile.

a) MATANGALIMA CAVE
The word MATANGALIMA means Bats in Chagga language. A flock of Bats is always found hanging on the walls of the cave. Also Monitor Lizards, Skink, Gecko, Squirrel can be seen. Big old trees are found too such as Fig Tree. It’s a marvelous place for a picnic. (Walking 35 min)

b) MAKOA WATER FALLS
Its about 20min walk from the Hotel to the Formed from the Makoa River, the Makoa Water Falls is located 3km from Protea Aish Machame Hotel. All the way, Banana and Coffee Plantations are found. While admiring the 10 meters high water falls one gets the opportunity to see the indigenous people conducting their daily activities.

c) MACHAME VILLAGE TOUR
After having your breakfast you will be transferred through Machame village, coffee and banana farms and about 3 km through the forest before reach the Kilimanjaro Machame gate. The Machame route is regarded as the most beautiful route up Kilimanjaro. The walk goes through plantation and tropical rain forest. Likely you will meet black and white Columbus monkey, blue monkey, duiker and bush buck. A superb lunch with a marvelous bottle of wine will be served in the middle of the forest surrounded by incredible bird life and the most beautiful view you can imagine.

1.MOSHI TOWN & SHAH LEATHER INDUSTRIES
On a free day between your tour plans you can visit the Moshi Town. We will show you the local traditional market and bring a visit to Shah Industries which is a must as you are able to buy your self various Pure Leather items such as bags, briefcases, belts as well as other curious and carvings made by Handicapped Tanzanian Craftsmen. A place must to visit!

2.A DAY EXCURSION TO THE BASE OF MOUNT KILIMANJARO AROUND MARANGU AREA
Upon arrival you will be met by our local guide for briefing while enjoying your welcome Juice. With your local guide depart for the visit of the ancient sites in the Makundi area recalls clan war and historic legends .you can enter in the laka caves .a very large hiding cave was used to protect women and children during Masai – Chaga war. Proceed with the visit to the blacksmiths who still use traditional methods to prepare spears and tools used by Masai people today. Return back to the lodge and continue with your next activity

3.MOSHI MARANGU ROUTE EXCURSION
Upon arrival at fortune Mountain resort you will be met by our mountain guide for briefing while enjoying welcome juice. with picnic packed lunch you will be driven to the main entrance of mountain kilimanjaro national park to start your walking through the forest to Mandara hut (2750m) which takes up 4-5 hours is worth gentle walk to enjoy the beauty of the scenery .late in the afternoon descend back to the main entrance gate where you will met by our driver and proceed to your next destination
